Abstract:
Based on an investigation of the development of steel water linepipe industry,a comparison of steel water linepipe productions between China and USA is made,involving physical elements like manufacturing processes and measuring equipment,and soft-elements like design technology and corrosion protection measures,etc. It is concluded that speaking of hardware like manufacturing equipment,the gap seems not to be so large,whereas the main gaps are concerned with such human-involved soft elements namely,design concepts and implementation of applicable technical specifications,covering such key issues as wall thickness design,interface technology and corrosion protection measures,etc. The fact is noticed that domestic production of steel water linepipes features high operation costs and poor product quality. Proposals for development of domestic steel water linepipe-making industry are put forward,including further sharpening competitive edges,closely following the development trends of related market places,and adapting the experiences and achievements most recently made in this field in USA.
